Threaded in Clay – Handmade Blue Stained Doily-Impression Ceramic Flower Vase

Threaded in Clay is a one-of-a-kind ceramic flower vase textured with a crochet doily that I made by hand. The delicate loops, petals, and stitched details were pressed directly into the clay, leaving a permanent impression of the original fiber work across the vase’s softly tapered form.

Blue glaze settles into the deepest parts of the crocheted pattern, bringing every raised detail into focus against a softly crackled ivory background. A warm, speckled cream glaze flows from the flared neck and breaks into organic drips where it meets the lace impression.

Its narrow opening is ideal for a few carefully chosen stems, garden clippings, dried flowers, or a small wildflower arrangement. It also makes a lovely sculptural piece when displayed on its own.

The doily was not a commercial texture mat or manufactured stamp—it was crocheted by hand before being used to create the vase’s surface. Variations in texture, form, glaze movement, and finish are part of its perfectly imperfect character.
